RESPONSIBLE, COMMITTED AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

Our Creative Director, Carol Blázquez, participated last April 20 in a conference about Responsible, Committed and Sustainable Design, organized by the School of Industrial Organization in Elche. Along with the other speakers, analyzed the importance of the design, not only as a way of solving problems, but also meeting needs, creating products that contribute to social welfare. For ECOALF, that means working hard to turn trash into something useful and beautiful.

ECOALF STARTS COLLABORATION WITH WASTE VENTURES

Ecoalf starts collaboration with Wate ventures

The Waste Ventures model was developed to provide a solution to the problems faced by the 50 million people worldwide who depend on waste picking, starting with some India small cities. It gives waste picker families the means to work in a safe environment and put their children into school.

It does this by creating integrated waste management companies that employ waste pickers. Their income is tripled by extracting greater value from the waste, reducing the portion dumped to under 20 percent. They are equipped with uniforms and protective gear for collecting waste and segregating at source. More than 80 percent of the material discarded by households can be reused, preventing emissions of carcinogenic dioxins and climate-warming greenhouse gases.

From March 2013 ECOALF will donate 5% of its online sales to this wonderful project. So now, when you buy an ECOALF garment, you get an amazing product made with recycled materials, so the world is a cleaner place and you help a family to get a better life.

GUNTER PAULI VISITS ECOALF

Last week we were visited by Gunter Pauli, author of “The Blue Economy: 10 years - 100 innovations - 100 million jobs”. The book expresses that the ultimate aim that a Blue Economy business model has, is shifting society from scarcity to abundance "with what we have", by tackling issues that cause environmental problems in new ways. He looks for solutions that are environmentally beneficial and have financial and social benefits. He loved our project and gave full support to ECOALF. We are looking forward to work together in the future.

The innovations on the agenda covered both large scale multi-billion dollar initiatives like resource processing, as well as highly entrepreneurial small scale programs. The world congress was also an opportunity to share the latest understandings on how these shifts in business models and changes in the market rules, lead to new macro-economic realities.
