CALL TO ACTION
We need to create less waste
SWAP, DONATE OR RECYCLE THE ITEMS YOU DON'T LIKE TO WEAR ANYMORE
REPAIR THE CLOTHES THAT ARE DAMAGED
If you don’t know how, look for tutorials guiding you step by step. You will be surprised at how easy sewing is.
Read the labels to know where your clothes come from and how to take care of them. Wash less and at lower temperatures and avoid dry cleaning to make your clothes last longer.
CHOOSE QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
Buy less but better. If you still feel like you need to buy more clothes, shop responsibly. Look for brands with transparent and sustainable values and processes. Choose items that are made with recycled fabrics and/or low impact fibers.
Minimize washing machine use: product care
We recomment air drying your clothes outdoors. Following our product care instructions will help make sure that your gear has a long, interesting life
When washing – use lower temperatures and shorter cycles.
Save water and energy consumption by washing your clothes only when strictly necessary. If you want to remove a stain, wash the affected area with soap and a sponge.
MINIMIZE THE USE OF THE DRYER
After washing your clothes hang it on the outside to avoid using the dryer, if the weather conditions allow it, the sun and the wind are the best allies to dry your clothes quickly and efficiently.
After washing your clothes, hang them up outside and avoid using the dryer.
We recommend you wash your feather clothes with cold water and basic soap powder. Once the washing cycle has been completed, let the clothes dry on a horizontal surface, away from sources of heat and turn them around every so often, taking advantage of the movement of the pen inside. If you are going to use a tumble dryer, we recommend that you use a program with the lowest possible temperature and place 2 or 3 clean tennis balls inside to prevent the boom from clumping. DO NOT iron your garment and never use softener or similar products.
How to clean and take care of your ECOALF shoes
What you will need to clean the shoes: Mild detergent or safe laundry soap. A soft brush or a toothbrush. A sponge. Paper towels. A bucket of warm water
You must wash the different parts separately. Start by removing the laces and insoles.
Fill up a bucket with warm water and add one or two tablespoons of mild detergent.
With a dry paper towel, remove the dirt before wetting the shoes.
Use a soft brush or a toothbrush soaked in warm water with soap to clean the outer soles (bottom of the shoes) by hand. Rinse with a sponge or with wet wipes.
Then wash the top part of the shoes. The upper part is the part that wraps the foot and the way of washing it will depend on the material from which it is made. Fabric, mesh or canvas: Use a wet sponge with soap and gently scrub. These materials can be washed by hand but do not immerse the shoes in water.
Clean the interior insoles with soap water. Rub the surface well with a toothbrush or a soft brush and remove any dirt or soap with a damp sponge. Do not put the insoles in the water because the foam can change their shape.
You can wash the laces with soap and a brush in the tap.
When you have washed all the parts of the shoes, let them air dry with paper towels inside. The wipes will help absorb moisture and maintain the shape of the shoes while they dry. (Do not let them dry near a radiator or in direct sunlight because they could be damaged.)
When the shoes are dry, you can sprinkle baking soda inside to absorb odors and traces of moisture.
What not to do:
Do not wash the shoes in the washing machine at + 30 degrees Celsius. The fabric and glue can get damaged if you put them in hot water.
Do not use bleach or household cleaning products to wash the shoes. Always use gentle means to wash our clothes.
Do not dry the shoes in the dryer, near a radiator or indirect sunlight. The heat can cause the shoes to lose their shape or break. It is best to let them dry outdoors.
"FOR A PLANET BEYOND NEXT SEASON".
You’ve probably asked yourself, “How does a brand like ECOALF not have an initiative that collects used clothing?”, we know that you think about it because every day we receive messages asking the same thing.
It’s something that we spend a lot of time pondering too, the issue is that we need to have completely transparent traceability behind where all of these items will go when you hand them over, and we haven’t found any collaborators that can offer that.
The good news is, we are about to launch a pilot program to collect your old clothing which will be available in some of our stores shortly.
#recyclingblackfriday For a planet beyond next season
As part of ECOALF's philosophy, the brand will not participate in Black Friday
Just as quickly as garments are made, they are wasted
GARMENT PRODUCTION EXCEEDS 100 BILLION/YEAR
95% of discarded clothing can be recycled to our advantage
A GARBAGE TRUCK OF CLOTHES IS DISCARDED OR BURNT EVERY SECOND
OUR POPULATION ONLY WEARS GARMENTS 7 TIMES
TEXTILE DYEING IS THE 2ND POLLUTER OF WATER AND IT REQUIRES 5 TRILLIONS OF WATER/YEAR
73% OF THE GLOBAL PRODUCTION ENDS UP IN THE LANDFILLS
it takes 2,700 liters of water to make one cotton shirt, roughly what one person drinks in 2,5 years
the poor quality of clothing means that 73% endS up burnt in landfills
