ECOALF FOUNDATION
In 2015, a fisherman invited Ecoalf’s founder to go out fishing with him and witness the large quantities of waste that got caught in their nets each day. Up until that point, there was no system in place to collect the waste, so it was thrown back into the ocean. That is when Ecoalf Foundation was born to support the Upcycling the Oceans project, guaranteeing that all the waste caught in their nets would be properly managed, sorted, and given a new life.
OUR OCEAN YARN
We have recovered +2.1 million kilos of waste from the sea floor through the Ecoalf Foundation’s Upcyling the Oceans project. Of all the waste collected, about 10% is plastic. We transform that plastic into our Ocean Yarn to make outerwear, footwear and accessories.
+15 PURPOSE-DRIVEN STORES
Each one of our stores is unique. At Las Rozas we recycled 3.3 tonnes of plastic through 3D printing to mimic a glacier. In San Sebastian we used paper and carboard to make a mono-material space that can be recycled again.
