New opening in Tokyo
a sustainable lifestyle experience
Located in the buzzing district of Shibuya, Ecoalf opens its first flagship store in Japan designed by Yohei Sakamaki. Since the inception Sakamaki aimed to make this space as sustainable as possible. The concept relies on a “Sharing Ecology”, a store created by nature using a combination of natural materials: Japanese bamboo, stone, sand, wood… The store journey continues with a combination of details across all the finishes and textures: recycled materials and unique pieces brought by nature, holistically integrating the Japanese culture.
Stone: a piece of art created by nature
The inside of the store welcomes you with a giant natural rock (of three tons), created by volcanoes, known as “Date-Kanmuri-Ishi”.
Upcycling processes are central to the interior of the shop. The garments flow in bamboo, a distinctive material in the Japanese aesthetic. The leather bands used to suspend the bamboo hangers were obtained by reusing material from a leather goods factory. The wood of the ground and walls stems from the scaffold planks from the construction process.
The unique staircase, another statement feature in the store and part of the “Doma” integration, invites you to enter the second floor dedicated to education events and talks.
The upper floor is dedicated to #ACTNOWs, monthly events where we will invite different spokespeople with projects around fashion, innovation or sustainability to share their philosophy, help raise awareness and educate on sustainability.
