Our first Zero Emissions store: a milestone on our journey to becoming a Zero Emissions brand by 2030
In collaboration with international interior designer Lorenzo Castillo and bioclimatic architecture experts MVN Arquitectos, we created 3D renders of different eco-friendly designs and selected the solutions that offer the lowest possible impact without sacrificing design.
The 149 m2 space features wooden beams sourced from Spanish forests, a material with a positive CO2 impact, as trees actively absorb CO2 from the atmosphere throughout their life cycle. Wood has also been used for the elegant footwear displays, benches and ceramic-tiled tables. The walls are covered in terracotta to naturally regulate heat and humidity, while abundant natural light and LED bulbs further reduce energy consumption.
Reducing CO2 emissions by 2.95 tonnes per year
To provide the small amount of energy required, we have 15 solar panels installed by emovili, a Spanish company specializing in their installation. The panels have an average life cycle of 25 years and prevent 2.95 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere each year. They are made from silicon and are almost entirely recyclable to promote a circular economy.
Zero impact for a big impact on the future
Located next to the IE University tower, we want our store to help educate future generations and become a meeting point for students through our ACT NOW events, where we invite professionals and experts to discuss sustainability issues and drive change.
